When not being simulated by the rewarding behaviour, dopamine will stop. So low dopamine levels can lead to mood swings, fatigue, and sadness. Use of certain drugs immediately boosts Dopamine making the users feel great pleasure. This is why people with addictions, such as drug users, tend to rely more and more heavily on drugs.
